The Unilever Foods Innovation Centre in Wageningen, a sustainability-oriented food research institute, was designed by Paul de Ruiter Architects and Fokkema & Partners Architecten.

The facility is home to offices, meeting spaces, laboratories, a mini-factory and test kitchens, one of which is visible behind a stunning six-metre-high glass wall that visitors can admire as soon as they enter the building.

Stratobel laminated safety glass and Stratophone acoustic laminated safety glass have been installed in modular walls with aluminium frames supplied by QbiQ Wall Systems.

Products used

  • Stratobel 66.2 laminated safety glass
  • Stratophone 66.A2 acoustic laminated safety glass

Thanks to the integrated design and build process employed, the building was awarded the highest possible level of sustainability certification: BREEAM-NL Outstanding. This means the Foods Innovation Centre is officially the most sustainable multifunctional building in the world.
