Together, the new high school, along with the previously completed Topmavo building and the new sports building, form a colourful educational complex - an atmosphere created in part by the coloured poinsettias and coloured glazing created especially for this project.

The new school is bright, colourful and spacious. The open style lets in light from the outside on all sides. The variety of Stratobel Colour glazing gives this beautiful complex a unique look.

The high school owes its playful and fresh character to all the colourful glazing. Getting the colours right was quite a challenge. The colours were achieved by using a combination of coloured Vanceva interlayers on the glass. Some of the colours absorb so much heat that toughened glass had to be used.

In total, around 350 m² of Stratobel Colour glass was processed for the Lyceum, some of which was opaque. An additional challenge was to achieve exactly the same colour shade for the opaque and transparent panels.

All in all, it took us about two and a half years from design to realisation. The results are impressive. The town of Alphen aan den Rijn has gained a colourful school campus.
