The East Wing is a major new addition to Geneva Airport. Jacques Bugna architecture studio in Geneva joined forces with engineering firms Ingérop (Paris) and T-Ingénierie (Geneva) to steer the project to completion, some ten years after it was originally conceived.
As the airport’s most modern terminal for medium and long-haul flights, the new East Wing features world-class facilities and leverages colour to subdivide and enliven the vast space. But a lot more is going on behind the scenes. For example, the building was designed to be energy positive, a hugely ambitious goal given the size of the space and its 20,000 m2 of facades.
Pyrobel Vision Line and Pyrobel-T fire-resistant glazing were specified for the building’s interior in order to guarantee maximum safety. The partitions are made of Pyrobel Vision Line and Pyrobel-T Vision Line butt-joined with a transparent silicone seal – both end-to-end and in 90° angles – resulting in a uniform, homogeneous design that not only delivers a comfortable visual experience, but also enhanced safety for passengers inside the terminal.
