Situated at 70 Great Bridgewater Street in Manchester. Havelock is Manchester’s newest Grade A office building. Through an intelligent, highly sustainable retrofit of an existing office building formerly known as Evershed House, architects OMI have designed a BREEAM Outstanding (at design stage) office.
The retrofit utilised the existing structure, resulting in savings of 2,000 tonnes CO2e of embodied carbon, and added two levels to the original concrete frame to create 8 storeys of Grade A office space at the scenic waterside location.
The façade has been fully modernised with curtainwalling glazed with high-performance double glazing units using AGC Stopray Vision 70/35T solar control glass on Clearvision, low-iron glass. Stopray Vision 70/35T offer a very high light transmission (70%), only 35% total solar energy transmission (g-value) to prevent overheating, and protects against heat loss with a low Ug value of 1.0W/m2.K.
IGU were fabricated by Carey Glass and the façade package was installed by specialist Sub-contractor Walsin Ltd.
