It was definitely worth the investment. The results are so much bigger and better than I imagined. I would definitely recommend Clearsight anti-reflective glass. Considering the results it brings, I’m a bit surprised it’s not more widely used in high-end luxury boutiques. It’s absolutely something I recommend for your front window.

How Clearsight makes high-end shops more visible: Cafmeyer Gallery and NITZ Boutique

The venerable shop window is the most powerful tool a retail establishment has for attracting potential customers and luring them inside. No matter how large or small the shopfront, the window showcases the finest items and presents them to the outside world – unless excessive and annoying reflections prevent potential customers from seeing through the window.

Light reflection

Many retailers report that their shop windows are so reflective that potential customers cannot even see what’s inside, which means that they keep on walking. The potential loss of visibility is so high that growing numbers of premium and luxury retailers are upgrading their shop windows to Clearsight anti-reflective glass.

Invisible glass

What makes Clearsight so special? Its anti-reflective coating slashes light reflection to less than 1%, far lower than the 8% typical of conventional float glass. Clearsight does not reflect its surroundings, making it so transparent that it is nearly invisible. And with its 100% colour rendering index, Clearsight faithfully reveals the colour and appearance of items on display.

Upgrading to Clearsight

It was this kind of visibility problem that prompted Cafmeyer Gallery to upgrade to Clearsight in early 2020:

Oliver Cafmeyer, owner of Cafmeyer Gallery in Knokke, Belgium: “We decided in early 2020 to fully remodel the gallery because we wanted to be more visible from the outside so that people could see our works of art and just how big our gallery is. One of the main goals with the renovation was to upgrade our south-facing front window. There was so much reflection on it that people couldn’t really see inside. After Soliver Waregem told us about the various options available, we opted for Clearsight anti-reflective glass in order to achieve the kind of visibility we were looking for. I had heard about the product, but thought it was only used in museums. I didn’t know it was also available for use in galleries and shop windows.”

NITZ Boutique in Brussels had the same problem:

Frédéric Jeanmart, owner of the high-end NITZ Boutique in Brussels, Belgium: “The main problem we had was that so much light reflected off the shop window that people could not see what was inside. To see inside, people had to put their face against the glass and use their hands to block the reflection.”

Exceeding expectations

“By installing anti-reflective glass we expected to see more people stopping in front of the gallery and, more importantly, more people coming in,” says Oliver Cafmeyer.

Both men were stunned by the result. “I had hoped the investment would pay off. Soon after the glass was installed, I noticed that a lot of people who lived in the area were discovering our boutique for the first time – they had never noticed it before. I’ve been here for 10 years so you can imagine the difference that makes!” explains Jeanmart.

Oliver Cafmeyer confirms: “The glass was seamlessly installed by Soliver Waregem. It was funny to see the reactions from neighbouring retailers. They would ask us when the new glass was going to be installed and we would reply that it already had been!” He continues, “We’ve been reopened for only a few weeks now and we can already see the results: more people are stopping and more people are coming in. That’s what we were hoping for and now it’s happening!”

Worthwhile investment

Frédéric Jeanmart continues: “I would 100% recommend Clearsight. It’s an amazing product that enables us to positively promote our products. We’ve noticed people coming closer, attracted from further away by the shop window. In the first year after the glass was installed, we had more footfall and more sales.”

Oliver Cafmeyer concludes: “It was definitely worth the investment. The results are so much bigger and better than I imagined. I would definitely recommend Clearsight anti-reflective glass. Looking ahead

While Clearsight has long been used in museums for display cases, it has now become an essential product capable of delivering previously unknown added value in many other applications, including retail outlets, digital panels, transport, sports facilities and high-end homes – wherever the aim is to prevent unwanted reflections and deliver stunning visibility.

Clearsight anti-reflective glass is available in a wide variety of thicknesses and compositions. It can be tempered and/or laminated for security and safety purposes and can be used in insulating glazing.
